“…None of the patients in this study taking a NOAC had LA/LAA thrombus; their demographics were comparable to the rest of the population, and the CHA 2 DS 2 VASc scores ranged from 0 to 5, similar to the population on warfarin. This finding is consistent with other studies that have shown that the incidence of thrombus in patients undergoing pre-ablation TOE is either similar (21) or less (22) than those patients on warfarin.…”

“…In our study, we found no difference in the LAAT incidences among the four NOACs apixaban, dabigatran, edoxaban, and rivaroxaban and no difference compared to continuous VKA therapy. Wyrembak et al., on the other hand, found significantly lower LAAT incidences in patients treated with NOACs (dabigatran, apixaban, and rivaroxaban) compared to patients on warfarin. Further trials are needed to follow‐up on these observations.…”

“…Similar to the analysis of Gunawardene et al ., high CHADS 2 and CHA 2 DS 2 ‐VASc scores were found to be independent predictors of LAAT in multivariate analysis of previous studies as well . Puwanant et al.…”

“…Wyrembak et al . published a single‐center retrospective study that compared the prevalence of LAAT in 517 warfarin‐treated patients versus 420 patients on NOACs prior to AF ablation.…”
