In vivo self-renewal of c-Kit+ Sca-1+ Lin(low/-) hemopoietic stem cells.

Abstract: The long term marrow-repopulating ability of mouse bone marrow c-Kit+ Sca-1+ Lin(low/-) cells was studied. Injection of as few as 100 c-Kit+ Sca-1+ Lin(low/-) cells could rescue a lethally irradiated recipient mouse and reconstitute both myeloid and lymphoid cells in their peripheral blood for at least 10 mo. When limiting dilution analysis was performed in the presence of host-derived rescue cells, as low as five c-Kit+ Sca-1+ Lin(low/-) cells were shown to be capable of repopulating lymphohemopoietic cells. … Show more
