In vitro remineralization of artificial enamel caries with resin composites containing calcium phosphate particles

Abstract: The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of experimental composites containing dicalcium phosphate dihydrate (DCPD) on remineralization of enamel lesions. Five resin‐based composites containing equal parts (in mols) of bisphenol‐A glycidyl dimethacrylate (BisGMA), triethylene glycol dimethacrylate (TEGDMA), and 60 vol % of fillers were manipulated. Filler phase was constituted by silanized barium glass and 0, 10, or 20 vol % of DPCD particles, either functionalized (F) or nonfunctionalized (NF) with TEG… Show more

“…It is the fifth frequently diagnosed cancer and the third leading cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide. 1 In recent years, a large number of investigations have been performed to improve the prognosis of patients with gastric cancer, with neoadjuvant chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and moleculartargeted therapies adopted as efficacious strategies. 19 Despite this, the prognosis of gastric cancer is still dim.…”

“…Gastric cancer is the fifth most common cancer and the third leading cause of cancer-related death in the world, with nearly one million newly diagnosed cases every year. 1 The prognosis of gastric cancer is poor and the average five-year survival rate is less than 20%. 2 Cancer stem cells and metastasis usually cause refractory of gastric cancer.…”

“…Resin composites containing CaP particles remineralize enamel and dentin. 4,7 A significant reduction in dental enamel demineralization has been observed in situ when using composite containing ACP particles. 3 Finally, these materials promote mineral recovery of enamel-dentin affected by caries in vivo.…”

“…However, new development strategies are focusing efforts on regenerative restorative biomaterials 1 capable of reversing the progression of caries lesions due to increasingly prioritized minimal intervention. 2,3,4 The incorporation of particles consisting of different phases of calcium orthophosphates (CaP) in resinous matrices, such as dicalcium phosphate dihydrate (DCPD), amorphous calcium phosphate (ACP), and tetracalcium phosphate (TTCP), are capable of releasing calcium and hydrogen Declaration of Interests: The authors certify that they have no commercial or associative interest that represents a conflict of interest in connection with the manuscript.…”
