In vitro anti-Mycobacterium tuberculosis activity of some Brazilian "Cerrado" plants

Abstract: RESUMO: "Atividade anti-Mycobacterium tuberculosis in vitro de algumas plantas do "Cerrado" Brasileiro". Show more

“…Many research groups screen plant extracts of Brazilian biomes, like Cerrado, Atlantic Forest, Amazon and Caatinga to detect bioactive substance (Cecílio et al, 2012;Tretin et al, 2011;Mesquita et al, 2009;Pavan et al, 2009;Cardoso-Lopes, 2008;Alves et al, 2000).…”

“…An incomplete or inadequate treatment led to the emergence of resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis to antituberculous (anti-TB) drugs. Studies have shown anti-TB activity by several classes of nonconventional compounds generating great expectations and hopes [3,4]. The evaluation of the effects of new compounds and nonconventional anti-TB drugs have grown and become increasingly more popular in recent years, mainly by the emergence of multidrug resistant TB (MDR-TB) and extensively-drug resistant TB (XDR-TB) [5][6][7].…”
