In situ and experimental analysis of longitudinal load on carbody fatigue life using nonlinear damage accumulation

Abstract: In this paper, a multi-disciplinary analysis method is proposed for evaluating the fatigue life of railway vehicle car body structure under random dynamic loads. Firstly, the hybrid fatigue analysis method was used with Multi-Body System simulation and finite element method for evaluating the carbody structure dynamic stress histories. The dynamics stress is calculated from the longitudinal load using longitudinal train dynamics. Secondly, the nonlinear damage accumulation model was used in fatigue analysis, a… Show more

“…Remarkably, in contrast to the upper left portion of the micrograph, this portion of the microstructure exhibits a discontinuous distribution of the β-phase. The literature indicates that the beginning of the AZ91D alloy's corrosion processes is intimately associated with the β-phase morphology [29,30]. When dispersed uniformly throughout the α-Mg matrix, it functions as a dissolution inhibitor.…”

“…Kong et al 22 predicted fatigue life of coil springs based on the Coffin–Manson, Morrow, and Smith–Watson–Topper strain–life models by developing the hybrid multi‐layer perceptron artificial neural network. Sharma et al 23 obtained the car‐body damage by a nonlinear model combined with the modified Chaboche with Cauchy MF model damage accumulation theory. Shangguan et al 24 proposed a fatigue strength assessment of the welded joints of a head car body model in view of multiaxial stress criteria and cumulative fatigue damage under variable cyclic loads.…”

“…To solve the deficiency of LDR, many researchers have worked on NLDR (Sharma et al., 2022; Zhu et al., 2022), which considers that the relationship between fatigue damage and loading cycle ratio is not linear. Manson and Halford (1981) proposed the M-H model under complex loading conditions.…”
