In silico genome-wide identification and characterization of the glutathione S-transferase gene family in Vigna radiata

Abstract: Plant glutathione S-transferases are integral to normal plant metabolism, and biotic and abiotic stress tolerance. GST gene family has been characterized in diverse plant species using molecular biology and bioinformatics approaches. In the current study, in silico analysis identified 44 GSTs in Vigna radiata. Of the total 44 GSTs identified, chromosomal locations of 31 GSTs were confirmed. The pI value of GST proteins ranged from 5.10 to 9.40. The predicted molecular weights ranged from 13.12 to 50 kDa. Subce… Show more

“…Predictive subcellular localization analysis of strawberry GST proteins suggested that most of the FaGST proteins were cytoplasmic, few FaGST proteins were predicted to be localized in chloroplast, mitochondria, and nucleus. This is consistent with many other previous studies [38,43], suggesting the conservation of GST subcellular location and functions.…”

“…1). Likewise CaGST s, the presence of nine introns was reported previously for tomato and potato GST genes 28,36 , while a maximum number of 16 and 14 were reported in Vigna radiate and Chinese cabbage , respectively 49,50 . Previous reports suggested that introns influence and enhance the expression of a gene in a eukaryotic organism, which has been experimentally validated with heterologous gene expression in Arabidopsis thaliana 51,52 .…”

“…MSA was also performed in this study to reveal the phylogenetic relationship of the strains. The results obtained in this study are quite similar to previous studies performed on whole genomes (Awan et al 2018b ; Vaish et al 2018 ). Phylogenetic analysis based on the OMPs sequence alignments is reliable but this methodology requires clarification and more evidences (Nahar et al 2017 ; Heinz and Lithgow 2014 ).…”

“…As a result, single 12-amino acid long sequence (GLTLGAQFTGNN) was identified with high antigenicity score and exo-membrane localization. The methodology of this study is in agreement with the previously designed vaccine targets with good results in other bacterial species (Vaish et al 2018 ; Azuar et al 2019 ; Satyanarayana et al 2018 ).…”
