Means of optimizing the coke discharge unit and improving the efficiency of dry quenching are considered. The development of a continuous coke discharge unit with an aerodynamic gate is discussed. Portion by portion discharge in a gate system is compared with continuous coke discharge. Various options for continuous coke discharge are analyzed. Tests of a CDQ unit with continuous coke discharge at Alchevsk coke plant show that the improvement of continuous coke discharge is an effective means of boosting the per formance of the CDQ unit. The mean dust content of the gases in the main CDQ loop is 30% less with con tinuous coke discharge.
