Improving the Composite Materials for Bi Lateral Prosthesis with Below Knee Amputation

Abstract: This study used the tensile and fatigue test to find the properties of composite material used to fabricate a prosthetic socket with below knee amputation using an excluding air technique. The composite materials consisted of eight layers of carbon-fiber for first socket and eight layers of perlon for second socket of below knee amputation. This study was conducted on a patient have 45years old of height 164cm and weight95kg were measured, and the results showed that the ultimate stress (Ϭult) and yield stress… Show more

“…Authors directly referenced currently available standards for 20 of the 30 test procedures, 19,21,23,24,28,34–39,41 although none of the tests were conducted with full adherence to the referenced standard. Tensile strength testing was the most common mechanical test performed on specimens, appearing in seven articles 21,23,24,34,37,38,41 . Static ultimate strength testing, with or without first conducting static proof testing as recommended by the ISO 10328 standard, was the most common mechanical test conducted on whole sockets, also appearing in seven articles 19,23,24,28,35,36,39 .…”
