Improvement Optical Properties of PVA/ TiO2 and PVA/ ZnO Nanocomposites

Abstract: The optical properties of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) doped TiO2 and ZnO nanoparticles respectively, were studied. PVA/TiO2 and PVA/ZnO nanoparticles were prepared by the pulsed laser ablation technique (PLA).The optical properties of PVA/ TiO2 and PVA/ ZnO nanocomposite solution have been investigated by transmittance data and absorption spectra. The optical band gap (Eg) was determined and the optical absorption spectra showed that a direct transition. The energy gap of PVA/ ZnO nanoparticles have been observed… Show more

“…The index of refraction values became higher upon adding TiO2 NPs. Previous reports have shown the same behavior for PVA/TiO2 and PVA/ZnO nanocomposites [44]. This raise in the values makes them useful as antireflective coatings.…”

“…Because the organic glass is partially soluble in silicone grease, a polyvinyl alcohol solution was used for coupling. Both the silicone grease and the polyvinyl alcohol solution have near 100% optical transmission over the emission spectra for the three organic scintillator materials [22,23]. To reflect the scintillation light, the EJ-276 and organic glass samples had all remaining sides wrapped in over ten layers of polytetrafluoroethylene tape [24].…”

“…Urbach energy gives depiction of amorphosness in the material arising from the heterogeneous disorders. It increases with increase of amorphous characteristics in the materials 30 . Urbach energy is given by the relation; αgoodbreak=αoexp()Egoodbreak−Eu$$ \alpha ={\alpha}_o\exp \left(E-{E}_u\right) $$ where α o is a constant.…”
