Prosthetic device is designed to function as a replacement for a missing limb and typically consists of suspension, liner, socket, pylon and foot components. The objectives of this research are to design a pylon component of a transtibial prosthetics by implementing auxetic metamaterial and to also validate performance of the designed pylon under quasi-static and dynamic conditions. The design and analysis processes are conducted using the finite element analysis and its effectiveness is validated by experimental testing of the prototype pylon sample. In the design process, the pylon structure is formulated by rearranging 2D re-entrant hexagon model into 3D model. It is identified from the design evaluation that the pylon exhibits the stiffness of the value of 79.24, 2371.6, and 13344 kN/m for the ligament thickness variation of 0.3 mm, 1 mm, and 2 mm, respectively. This directly indicates a capability of the stiffness tuning of the pylon by changing the ligament thickness. It is evaluated that the pylon with the ligament thickness of 0.3 mm causes the deformation of 0.53 cm during a single period of gait cycle, while the ligament thickness of the 1 mm causes the deformation of 0.4 cm. The deformation physically indicates the energy absorption of the pylon structure and hence the thinner ligament, the higher energy absorption provides. It is also found from the deformation transition of the primary and secondary bends, the negative Poisson’s ratio is occurred in 3D model transformed from 2D re-entrant hexagon.

Formula Society of Automotive Engineers (FSAE) is a competition where the students design, build, and race the formula-style car. In this competition, the regulation stringent for the safety of participants. Chassis is one of the regulated parts among the other parts. This paper examines design process followed by chassis analysis by using Solidworks 2018 and Abaqus/CAE 6.14 software. The analysis process is carried out with Static Vertical Test, Torsional Stiffness Test, and Crash Impact Test using a safety standard in the form of a safety factor that must be more than 1 (SF> 1) to ensure the safety of the driver. The aim is to obtain an optimum final design based on FSAE Japan regulation as a reference for the Universitas Sriwijaya electric car team, namely Sriwijaya Eco in making the framework for the upcoming electric formula car.

The body shape of a vehicle and the structure need to be considered when designing a vehicle. In addition, the shape of the body tends to significantly affect the vehicle's energy use to counter aerodynamic forces due to wind loads. Therefore, this research aims to determine the body length, width, height, wheel base and ground clearance of vehicles in the selection of Bono Kampar for Urban Concept Car Formula to Fulfill Indonesia Energy-Savings Standards (“KMHE”) with Aerodynamics Analysis. The methods used to create four models of vehicle bodies are dynamic simulation on Computational Fluid Dynamic software are coefficient drag, lift and bland force. The result showed that the car body design needs to have the smallest drag coefficient. This is because when vehicles have a large drag coefficient value, it tends to greatly influence its efficiency or performance. Furthermore, this is useful for minimizing fuel usage, and in allowing the vehicle to reduce the friction force caused by air while driving. The Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) software is used to obtain drag coefficients, which is used in Solid works Flow Simulation. From aerodynamic simulation results on four alternative car bodies carried out in this study, the smallest Cd (Coefficient Drag) is the second car body model, which has Drag Coefficient (Cd) of 0.21 Pa.
