Improvement of Electromagnetic Compatibility of Motor Drives Using Chaotic PWM

Abstract: In this paper, a new chaotic pulse width modulation (PWM) scheme is proposed and implemented to reduce the conducted electromagnetic interference (EMI) in motor drives. The key is the use of logistic mapping to chaoize a frequency-modulated signal which then modulates the carrier frequency. Compared with the sinusoidal PWM and random PWM, the proposed scheme not only suppresses the peaky EMI, but also avoids the occurrence of low-order noises and mechanical resonance. Both simulation and experimental results a… Show more

“…Consequently, the energy can be delivered to the authorized receiver effectively while avoiding the energy transferred to the unauthorized receiver. In order to avoid code-breaking, chaotic encryption has been developed [78]. When several receivers are coupled to a single transmitter, the bifurcation phenomena might occur due to the varying reflected impedance in the primary.…”

“…The HF models of different types of motor drives for the investigation and prediction of EMI are discussed in [2]- [20]. In [2]- [12], analytical and numerical approaches are presented, which propose a simulation model for a complete drive system based on the frequency domain. References [13]- [20] present ideas to develop HF model for a motor-drive system based on the circuit measurements.…”
