“…Furthermore, the consumption of active oxygen leads to the formation of Fe 2+ in metal oxides, and Fe 2+ is reoxidized to Fe 3+ by oxygen in the gaseous phase along with the formation of active oxygen atoms. In contrast, the catalytic oxidation of cyclohexane over the PdAg/Fe 2 O 3 followed both the MVK reaction mechanism and the Langmuir–Hinshelwood reaction mechanism, in which the activation of oxygen by oxygen vacancies to form active oxygen atoms occurs simultaneously with the activation of oxygen by Pd species to form oxidized Pd–O species for cyclohexane oxidation. ,, In the combined PdAg/Fe 2 O 3 reaction mechanism, chemisorbed cyclohexane can be oxidized by both active oxygen atoms and Pd–O to form carbon dioxide, water, reduced Pd species, and oxygen vacancies, and the reduced Pd species and oxygen vacancies (Fe 2+ ) are further oxidized by oxygen molecules, resulting in the recovery of oxidative species for subsequent reaction cycles. Therefore, these results suggest that loading PdAg alloy nanoparticles on Fe 2 O 3 has the advantages of promoting the key reaction step of oxidative cyclohexane dehydrogenation to cyclohexene and benzene and providing an abundance of active sites (oxygen vacancy and Pd sites) for oxygen activation while also increasing the number of moderately acidic sites for cyclohexane adsorption.…”
