Improved maximum uniformity and capacity of multiple holograms recorded in absorbent photopolymers

Abstract: Abstract:In order to use photopolymers in the recording of holographic memories, high physical thickness is required. This generates many problems associated with the attenuation of light in the recording due to Beer's law. One of the more significant disadvantages is the fact that there are differences between the physical thickness of the material and the optical thickness of the holograms recorded. The optical thickness characterizes the angular selectivity of the holograms and determines the separation bet… Show more

“…The material response depends on many parameters. When all of them are accurately determined, the material behavior can be modeled [15][16][17][18][19][20], enabling us to easily find the optimum schedule to multiplex many holograms for holographic memories [21,22], or the intensity distribution to obtain the desired DOE with the required relief structure or refractive index distribution [14]. To manufacture DOEs we have used a hybrid optical-digital system with a liquid crystal spatial light modulator (LC-SLM) performing the function of the master [14].…”

“…Gallego et al [60] proposed a new method to record many angularly multiplexed holograms, having similar diffraction efficiency values by taking into account the different effective optical thickness of each hologram. The method therefore predicts the exposure times required to obtain maximum storage capacity.…”
