Improved Ferric Chloride Test for Phenols

Abstract: All colors (listed) represent distinct color changes when compared to the colors of the solutions of compounds in the appropriate solvents. In these cases the test is considered positive. In all other cases the test is considered negative and is indicated by Neg, An arrow indicates a change in color upon addition of more reagent.
