Improve Science Learning Outcomes for Elementary School Students Through The Development of Flipbook Media

Abstract: This development research aims to: (1) develop Flipbook learning media in science learning material for animal life cycles (metamorphosis), (2) the level of validity of Flipbook learning media, and (3) the effectiveness of Flipbook learning media. The trial subjects were 25 Class IV students and a teacher at SDN Poja II Sumenep. This research method uses the Research and Development (R&D) type ADDIE development model, which has five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The… Show more

“…The use of technology for learning media like Canva-based Digital Flipbooks can attract students' interest and motivation to learn (Hidayah et al, 2023). Previous research findings indicate that Canva-based Digital Flipbooks can improve students' learning outcomes in science lessons and enhance critical thinking skills (Hardiansyah & Mulyadi, 2022;Suyasa et al, 2021). Additionally, this learning media can help students enhance their critical thinking skills in solving problems (Landina & Agustiana, 2022;Yomaki et al, 2023).…”

“…However, in practice, there are still issues at the elementary school level, particularly in IPAS learning, where certain materials are difficult for students to understand, making the learning less effective (Landina & Agustiana, 2022;Ružičić, 2021). This issue arises because the use of technology-based learning media has not been maximized in IPAS learning, affecting student learning outcomes (Hardiansyah & Mulyadi, 2022;Holisoh et al, 2023). Another problem in IPAS learning is the use of conventional or printed learning media, which fails to capture students' interest (Fiteriani et al, 2023).…”

“…Flipbook is a specialized software designed to easily create digital books, catalogs, brochures, and presentations (Handayani et al, 2020;Hardiansyah & Mulyadi, 2022). This tool enables educators to deliver electronic teaching materials more engagingly by incorporating interactive elements such as images, videos, animations, and text (Rusnilawati & Gustiana, 2017).…”

“…this shows that when someone briefly studies a subject matter, the material has been entered into memory, but the storage duration is minimal, around 30 seconds, so it cannot be recalled for a more extended period. Short-term memory can only hold about 7 + 2 items, so it cannot store more data (Hardiansyah et al, 2023;Hardiansyah & Mulyadi, 2022). This means that data will be shifted after someone enters more than 7 + 2 items, so previous details will be forgotten.…”
