Impression Evaluation of Streetscape by Super High-Rise Buildings Set-Back in High-Rise Part

Abstract: Recently in Japan, streetscapes have been changing by repeated deregulation and redevelopment. Through the experiments using VR system, we research the desirable building forms and facades in Marunouchi. Firstly we investigate the viewpoints of examinees when they experience VR street model. Secondly, we investigate the changes of impression in three streetscapes whose buildings forms are different. Thirdly analyzing the correlation of physical components and unique facades, and we clarify the relation between… Show more

“…Changes in the ways of public participation lead to the development of 3D visualization exploration with '3D visual reality' technology to support the planning and design of the built environment. This 3D visualization technique is able to stimulate and arouse public interest in understanding a lot in understanding the visualization of urban landscape planning on a macro or micro scale [3], [4], [5]. Various recording techniques for digital modeling of historic buildings have been carried out by researchers.…”

“…Matsumoto and Takai (1992) performed the investigation of personal preference on streetscape using the SD method through photographs. Several researchers have shown that the combination of the VR and SD methods was considerably effective to perform evaluations of streetscapes (Koba and Kishimoto 2009;Koizumi et al 2009). Other researchers conducted typology method and image analysis methods, using pictures, maps and even computer graphic images (Dokyu and Yamamoto 2003;Seta et al 2003;Yoshimura and Tsukamoto 2010).…”

“…Various images can be projected in HMDs, including three-dimensional CG images, model images obtained with charge-coupled device (CCD) cameras, and 360 panoramic images. Studies using three-dimensional CG images include impression evaluations in multiple streetscapes with different building forms (Koba and Kishimoto, 2009) and seamless walk-through/fly-through experiences in 3D-object streetscapes utilizing Google Earth (Manabe et al, 2015). Seta et al (1997) successfully developed a visual simulator system in which a small-sized CCD camera was inserted at the model's eye level and linked with the subject's head movement presenting images linked with perceptual behaviors.…”
