Importance of SUVmax threshold in positron emission tomography-computed tomography assessment of mediastinal and hilar lymph nodes in non-small cell lung cancer

Abstract: Bu çalışmada Türkiye'de küçük hücreli dışı akciğer kanserinde mediastinal lenf nodlarının pozitron emisyon tomografi-bilgisayarlı tomografi değerlendirmesinde standardize tutulum değeri için yeni bir eşik değeri belirlendi. Ça lış ma pla nı: Kasım 2006-Şubat 2010 tarihleri arasında pozitron emisyon tomografi-bilgisayarlı tomografi uygulanan küçük hücreli dışı akciğer kanserli toplam 207 hasta prospektif olarak incelendi. Bu hastalardan pozitron emisyon tomografi sonrası invaziv evrelemesi yapılan 143 hasta (12… Show more

“…Because CT evaluates only the size of the lymph node, it cannot differentiate the inflammatory disease-related lymph node enlargements from metastasis. In the literature, the sensitivity of thoracic CT was 20%-86%, specificity 50%-93%, PPV 26%-86%, and NPV 40%-93% (10,11). In this study, the sensitivity of thoracic CT was 33%, specificity 82.3%, PPV 25%, and NPV 87.5%.…”

“…Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancerrelated death all over the world (%17,8-28) and 85% of lung cancer cases are non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) (1). Despite new advances in chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgical techniques, five-year survival is about 10-15% (1).…”
