Importance Du Couplage De L’inventaire Des Plantes Mellifères Et De L’analyse Pollinique Des Miels De La Saison Des Pluies En Zone Ouest Soudanienne Au Nord-Bénin

Abstract: The melliferous plants vary from one area to another according to biotic, climatic and ecological factors. This study was realized in the Sudanese region of Benin, in order to inventorize honey plants visited by the honeybee Apis mellifera adansonii Latreille. Pollen analysis of 34 samples of honey from three apiaries in the northwest of the country, combined with direct observations around each apiary within 1000 m radius were realized per month. In total 129 species were censised including 109 species invent… Show more

“…Melliferous plants around hives were investigated each month from January to December 2021 in the field following the method of direct observation of Apis mellifera adansonii Latreille foraging (Nombré et al, 2001; Yédomonhan et al, 2009). The observations were made following the method adapted from Ahouandjinou et al (2017). We walked around five concentric equidistant circles with a radius of 200 m each and that formed a big circle of 1 km radius around the experimental apiaries.…”

“…In most African countries, beekeeping remains a secondary activity (Ahouandjinou et al, 2016; Kanazoe et al, 2021; Kouassi et al, 2018), although its production does not meet local and international demands. In West Africa, previous studies carried out have shown that honey bees have available forage throughout the year (Ahouandjinou et al, 2017; Nombré, 2003). Therefore, they do not need to be fed, unlike their European counterparts, which need to be fed artificially when they are deprived of all the honey stocks in the colony.…”
