Abstract:During the Second World War, Kurt Lewin was part of a wider research team commissioned by the U.S. Department of Defense to study how dietary habits of American citizens could be changed so as to avoid protein starvation due to the lengthy war efforts. Lewin’s research on food habits can be linked to his earlier studies on social fields. This paper aims to interpret Lewin’s findings on changing dietary habits by using his very own field theory approach, in order to hypothesize how the such findings can be driv… Show more
“…A person experiences a change in knowledge because they receive information from the surrounding environment. Such a phenomenon is explained in the field theory by Kurt Lewin (1943) who postulates that the environment can stimulate changes in human behaviour (Roşca, 2020). The communication environment is defined as physical, time and socio-cultural contexts and sources of information gained by a person (DeVito, 2017).…”

“…The field theory explains that a person's attitude changes due to externally received stimuli or messages (Roşca, 2020). This means that attitude changes occur as an effect of communication or social interaction.…”
This article aims to explain the direct and indirect effects of coercive communication on the increase of public compliance with Indonesian government policies to reduce the spread of COVID-19. This study employed a quantitative method. The data were collected for 11 days (29 May–8 June 2020). This research involved 580 respondents who were aged 15 years and over and willingly answered the questionnaire. The research questionnaire was distributed through social media platforms, such as Facebook, WhatsApp group and Instagram. The research data were analysed using statistical path analysis with SEM WarpPLS7.0. The findings indicate that coercive communication significantly and directly affects public compliance with seeking information and performing attitudes to suppress the spread of COVID-19 in Indonesia. Thus, coercive communication can be practically applied as an important alternative strategy in other public policy communications to get a fast response, encourage information seeking and trigger public compliance.

“…The dynamics and development of personality are related to the psychological environment because individuals and the environment are parts of the life space that depend on each other (J. Chen et al, 2021;Roşca, 2020;Yang et al, 2017). Life space contains all possible facts that can determine individual behavior.…”
Section: The Effect Of Character Building and On Self-esteem In Adole...mentioning
This study aimed to demonstrate that character education and friendship are factors that influence or foster self-esteem in adolescents. To validate the statement, 250 students in Semarang participated and are involved in this study. Three hypotheses were formulated and tested. The major hypothesis was that character education and friendship have an effect on self-esteem in adolescents. The first minor hypothesis was that character education has an effect on students’ self esteem and the second minor hypothesis was that friendship has an effect on self-esteem in adolescents. The results of data analysis show that all hypotheses are accepted. Furthermore, based on the results, the researchers suggested that character education and friendship dimensions should be considered in an intervention program intended to promote the potential of education character and friendship as a means of fostering self-esteem in adolescents as a foundation for growth and development in the future.
“…The concept originated with Parsons' argument that individuals differed in their compatibility with various jobs, as well as Lewin's field theory in the twentieth century, which asserted that behavior is a result of both individuals and their settings cited in [25]. The theory was founded on Parsons' argument that individuals vary in their compatibility with various jobs and on Lewin's field theory, which asserted that behavior is a result of both individuals and their circumstances [26].…”
Section: Person-environment (P-e) Fit Theorymentioning
(1) This study investigates the influence of a person-environment-fit on academic achievement and examines mediating effects of adjustment and satisfaction on this relationship; (2) Methods: Data were collected from a sample of 195 hearing-impaired students from five polytechnics in Malaysia that offered the Special Skills Certificate program; (3) Results: Results revealed that the two constructs of the person-environment approach: personality-major fit and needs-supplies fit were positively associated with academic achievement. The adjustment was found to mediate this relationship. Taken together, these results signal that the person-environment constructs contribute to the academic achievement of hearing-impaired students and that adjustment is instrumental in elucidating this relationship; (4) Conclusions: The finding adds to the data, indicating that the person-environment-fit is a possible model of inclusion for hearing-impaired students and also provides initial data about the functioning of hearing-impaired students in Malaysian polytechnics.
