This paper analyzes consumption expenditure and poverty dynamics in rural and urban areas of India using panel data analysis. The objective is to identify factors related to escaping poverty and understand current poverty status. The study utilizes data from the India Human Development Survey (IHDS) for 2004-05 and 2011-12. The research methodology combines panel regression with fixed effects and binary logit regression. Findings reveal significant relationships between demographic characteristics, education, and consumption expenditure. Socioeconomic factors, like income sources and employment status, also influence Per Capita Consumption Expenditure. The study highlights the multidimensional nature of poverty, calling for targeted policies to address various dimensions. Policymakers can use these insights to foster inclusive development and reduce poverty in India. However, the binary logit regression has limitations, and future research could explore more nuanced models. Overall, this study informs evidence-based policymaking for poverty alleviation and inclusive development.

Employability skills for MICE management in the context of ICTs

Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) applications have become a vital part for MICE industry. MICE higher education is expected to provide their graduates with essential management knowledge and ICTs operational skills to meet the industry demands on the rise. This empirical study investigates the perceptions of employability skills for MICE management in the context of ICTs. Based on the questionnaire (n = 95), an initial 16 employability skills are proposed and the underlying dimensions are explored. The skills of communication, innovation, organizing and coordinating, market promotion, planning, project implementing, crisis management, proficiency in English and operation management are perceived as of great importance. Four categories of employability skills are analysed: Core Generic skills (CGS), Communicative Expression Skills (CES), Practical Hands-on Skills (PHS) and MICE Professional Skills (MPS). This study is crucial as it helps to identify the level of importance and dimension of employability skills for MICE management. For both academia and industry, the results of this study are useful to provide critical skills for multi-skilled and competitive employees for their future success.

The COVID pandemic of 2019 has given a more substantial dimension to development paradigm. A development which will not be people centric and inclusive will not be able to embrace the challenges that the unforeseen future may apprise us with. Feminist Economics as a school of thought does focus on this aspect of development. An economy run by only men thus will be based on only one perspective. The skills, passion and ideas of women if not included will not only impact the economic growth of a country but also its social development. This paper tries to explore the role and contribution of women in creating a gender inclusive society- through case studies of some women entrepreneurs who are heading a startup in the last decade and contributing to economic growth.
