Implication of Acute, Sub-chronic and Chronic Exposure to Different Pesticides via Inhalation on Male Wistar Rats

Abstract: This study was carried out to investigate the combined toxicological effects of ten pesticides: Paraquat, Termicot (Chlorpyrifos), Sniper (Dichlorvos (Ddvp), Best (Cypermethrin), Delta Force (Deltamethrin), Vitoate 40 EC (Dimethoate), Force Up (Glyphosate), Attacke and Karto (Lambda Cyhalothrin) on some selected hematological and biochemical profile of male Wistar rats. Thirty six male Wistar rats weighing 152-198g were divided into three groups on weight basis. Groups' 1 and 2 containing 12 rats each were exp… Show more

“…The liver is mainly involved in the synthesis of plasma protein, damage to which causes a reduction in the protein concentration (Adeoti et al, 2017). A decrease in the level of albumin as well as total protein has been associated with damage to the liver function, caused by toxicity (Simon et al, 2019).…”

“…The prevalent use of pesticide on agricultural products in Nigeria has led to many diseases and dysfunctions which include the liver function, this is in line with the present studies. Elevated levels of liver enzymes (ASAT, ALAT, ALP and ALB) in the plasma are indicative of the condition of hepatic function (hepatotoxicity) (Oluwatoyin et al, 2017). Slight cell damage can lead to increase in the enzymes activity in the serum which can be detected (Rasha et al, 2023).…”

“…Aspartate transaminase (AST), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), Alanine transaminase (ALT) are very useful biomarkers of liver injury. (Adeoti et al, 2017). AST and ALT in serum are used to diagnose body tissues especially the heart and the liver if injury exists or not.…”
