Protected areas (PAs) are central to sustainability targets, yet few evaluations explore outcomes for both conservation and development, or the trade‐offs involved. We applied counterfactual analyses to assess the extent to which PAs maintained forest cover and influenced well‐being across >31,000 villages in Sumatra and Kalimantan, Indonesia. We examined multidimensional aspects of well‐being, tracking education, health, living standards, infrastructure, environment, and social cohesion in treatment and control villages between 2005 and 2018. Overall, PAs were effective at maintaining forest cover compared to matched controls and were not detrimental to well‐being. However, impacts were highly heterogeneous, varying by island and strictness of protection. While health, living standards, and infrastructure aspects of well‐being improved, education access, environmental conditions, and social cohesion declined. Our analysis reveals the contexts through which individual PAs succeed or fail in delivering multiple benefits and provides insights into where further on‐ground support is needed to achieve conservation and development objectives.

Today, education plays a significant role in training and preparing the future generation for a greener society. A quality education system will produce national development, solve humanity's problems, and generate quality human resources that can compete in the global space. Education is the main foundation in the formation of human resources. However, the quality of higher education in Nigeria is still far from expectations compared to more developing countries. This article also focuses on the various challenges faced by Nigerian public universities, which range from a lack of sound strategic plans, impoverished leadership, ineffectual teaching and learning, worthless infrastructural development, inadequate funding, academic corruption, and fraud. No country can embrace national development without giving university education a priority. Educated leaders attract absolute democracy and good governance. Uneducated leaders attract hardships, absolutism, and despotism, affecting national growth and development. A country that neglects university education hardly achieves success and national development. This article presents problems (pestilence) faced in higher education in Nigeria and also proffers solutions for improving the education system in Nigeria. Education is a product of civilization, innovation, creativity, discoveries, and mental development that brighten every country. The effectiveness of national peace, ethics, and development, the rule of law, equity, equality, and justice emerge when a country is civilized via well-grounded education.

This qualitative study explores the management of facilities and infrastructure at two junior high schools in Southwest Aceh Regency, Indonesia (SMP Negeri 1 Susoh and SMP Negeri 2 Susoh) and examines its impact on learning quality. The research methodology includes observations, structured interviews, and documentation to collect data from key stakeholders such as principals, deputy principals, and teachers. The findings emphasize the critical role of detailed planning and collaboration among teachers, principals, and school development teams in aligning facility needs with curriculum requirements. Efficient use, storage, maintenance, and care of educational assets are essential for maximizing their functionality and longevity. The study also highlights the importance of comprehensive inventory management that adheres to regulatory guidelines to ensure effective resource control and supervision. However, the schools face challenges including limited land availability, insufficient funding, human resource constraints, and inadequate government support, which impede their ability to provide well-rounded learning environments. The study points out the necessity for ongoing improvement efforts by principals to adapt educational facilities to evolving educational demands. It recommends prioritizing investments in facilities, staff training, and policy enhancements to address these challenges and foster comprehensive educational development. Future research should assess the effectiveness of these management practices in various contexts and their long-term impact on student outcomes.
