Implementation of Quality Systems in Sociotechnical Systems

Abstract: Although the model had mismatches, and the proof of it are the results obtained by Elton Mayo at the Hawthorne plant, not until the early '50s when a series of British Tavistock Institute researchers call into question the Taylor paradigm as the only possible one, the one best way to achieve high productivity. The Institute's researchers pointed out that the process of mechanization had destroyed the traditional structure of small groups of miners who carried out all of the tasks related to coal mining, replac… Show more

“…21 A bulk of the prior work with synthetic hydrogels and liposomes has been conducted in the context of drug delivery, where liposomes are encapsulated within hydrogel networks to enhance biocompatibility, biodegradability, and controlled release. 22 The osmotic pressure of proteoglycans, a major component of the ECM, is evaluated to range from 30 to 350 kPa. 23,24 Under these conditions, significant structural transformations have been shown to occur in a myriad of soft materials in vivo.…”

“…2.1 Quality management practices Grounding on sociotechnical system (STS) theory, this paper argued that the effectiveness of QM implementation is dependent on the jointly optimization of infrastructure QMPs (social subsystems) and core QMPs (technical subsystems) rather than independent of each other (Kaynak, 2003;Zu, 2009;Grijalvo, 2012). Intrinsically, STS theory views QMPs as an integrated STS, allowing the classifications of QMPs into infrastructure QMPs and core QMPs and lastly supports the theoretical argument that pointing toward the expected synergy between the two sets of practices instead of solely dependent on either infrastructure QMPs or core QMPs.…”
