“…One notable feature of SRI production is the switch from anaerobic to aerobic conditions, in which the soil is oxygenated for longer periods than when rice is produced in flooded paddies. The oxygen, in combination with the inorganic fertilizer, enhances the activity of soil biota, thus promoting stronger root development and healthier rice plants, resulting in higher yields per hectare in some cases [233,234].
