Impact of storage period on different types of bee pollen pigments

Abstract: Pigments are anti-oxidants, which play an important role in protecting against many diseases. In this study, pigments of different bee pollen types (Sunflowers, Clover, Sesame and Maize) were determined with ethanol solvent and stored under freeze condition. Sunflower bee pollen had the highest amounts of the studied 23 pigments except three pigments. Maize bee pollens were superior to sunflower bee pollen in its content of the three exception pigments (Isozeaxanthin, Zeaxanthin and B-Zeaxanthin). In Sunflower… Show more

“…Among the fat-soluble vitamins, a wide range of α- and β-carotene contents has been reported in BP . Additionally, other carotenoids and their isoforms (γ-, ξ-, and ε-carotene) in trans - and cis -geometric shape (Figure S1 of the Supporting Information) have been reported in BP, standing out equally for their content levels, while four tocopherols (α-, β-, γ-, and δ-tocopherol) were also reported . With regard to the water-soluble vitamins, the main values reported correspond to vitamin B 3 (nicotinamide and niacin) from Brazilian pollen as well as the vitamin C content, ranging from trace amounts to important contents, like 79.70 mg/100 g …”
