“…Both female and older subjects displayed poorer QoL in the OPMDQ scores than their counterparts. This is also consistent with other studies . Females reported poorer QoL in the overall score as well as in domains “Physical and functional limitation” and “Psychological and social well‐being.” This result is not surprising.…”

“…Compared to controls, QoL of OL subjects was impaired in the overall OPMDQ score and in the domains of “Difficulty with diagnosis” and “Effects of treatment on daily life.” This is consistent with numerous studies in which individuals with oral mucosal lesions, including OL, show impaired QoL using various QoL instruments . Both female and older subjects displayed poorer QoL in the OPMDQ scores than their counterparts.…”

“…Additionally, the literature on QoL in OSF patients is scanty (Kerr et al., ). To date, previous studies on the OHRQoL of OSF patients have used generic questionnaires, such as European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (Kularatna, Whitty, Johnson, Jayasinghe, & Scuffham, ), Nepalese version of OHIP‐14 (Rimal & Shrestha,), OHIP‐14 (Jiang et al., ) and OPMDQoL (Tadakamadla, Kumar, Lalloo, Gandhi Babu, & Johnson, ). However, these generic measures offer less sensitivity to clinical change than disease‐specific tools (Kaplan, Kravitz, & Greenfield, ).…”

“…10 Past studies used generic questionnaires for the assessment of QoL in OSF patients. [11][12][13] However, these generic instruments lack the sensitivity to evaluate the QoL accurately, as they are applicable to a wide variety of populations and disease states. The necessity of the work in this area has recently been recognized by Rai. 14 With this dire need in mind, the present study was designed to focus on the outcomes and experiences of the OSF patients with a view to developing a proper PROM for OSF patients specifically.…”
