The exponential growth of the lithium‐ion (LIB) market is causing a significant disparity between the supply chain and demand for its resources. In this regard, sodium‐ion and potassium‐ion batteries are promising alternatives to LIBs due to their low cost. However, the larger sizes of Na+ and K+ ions create challenges that prevent them from achieving energy densities comparable to LIBs while maintaining an acceptable cycle life. In this perspective, the aim is to evaluate the status of Na‐ion and K‐ion batteries and the challenges associated with them on both fundamental and commercial levels. The focus is on the structural instability arising from phase transitions during cycling, intricate chemical degradation processes, and potential avenues for enhancing their performance with a specific goal of improving their viability for grid‐scale energy storage. Materials production and abundance limitations for the chemistries of the state‐of‐the‐art materials and account for critical parameters from both the perspective of researchers and investors are analyzed. This analysis aims to provide insights into the strategic trade‐offs required to effectively implement the technology in real‐world applications, such as grid‐scale storage and other areas. Furthermore, the utilization of metals with low or no supply‐chain problems as an important aspect of these trade‐offs is considered.

Hasil penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat keterkaitan antara harga nikel, indeks harga saham, dan nilai tukar pada periode sebelum, periode setelah kebijakan larangan ekspor dan periode keseluruhannya. Penelitian ini mengambil sampel data harian periode 1 Januari 2013 hingga 30 April 2021. Periode sampel dibagi menjadi tiga subperiode yaitu periode sebelum kebijakan dari 1 Januari 2013 hingga 31 Desember 2019, Periode setelah kebijakan 1 Januari 2020 hingga 30 April 2021, dan periode keseluruhan dari 1 Januari 2013 hingga 30 April 2021. Masing-masing periode mempunyai total sampel pada periode sebelum 1702, periode setelah 324 sampel, dan periode keseluruhan berjumlah 2026 sampel. Analisis penelitian ini menggunakan VECM. Hasil penelitian ini membuktikan adanya keterkaitan antara variabel tersebut, namun berbeda-beda pada periode sebelum, setelah kebijakan larangan ekspor dan secara keseluruhannya. Hal ini dikarenakan adanya berbagai faktor ekonomi dan waktu serta kondisi global yang kemudian dapat menyebabkan hubungan melemahkan dan menguatkan dari variabel yang satu terhadap variabel lainnya yang mamppu mengubah arah hubungan terutama antara kurs dan IHSG. Penelitian ini juga menemukan bahwa Kurs berperan sebagai saluran transmisi mediasi dari harga nikel ke indeks harga saham.

Potassium is a decisive strategic resource to ensure food safety production and supply, which many nations define as a critical metal. Due to the unbalanced distribution of resources and production capacity and the separation of the primary potassium-consuming and supplying countries, international trade is the main supply channel for potassium-consuming countries to acquire enough resources. Understanding the characteristics of potassium trade networks and the evolution of trade patterns is essential for supply security. To explore this issue, this paper employs the complex network theory to quantitatively analyze the evolution characteristics of the global potassium trade network (PTN) from 2000 to 2021. The results show (1) Overall, the potassium trade shows a trend of gradual prosperity, efficiency, and concentration; (2) During the two decades, the main exporting countries of potassium remained stable, while imports changed significantly; (3) The evolution of the potassium trade community has characterized the fragmentation-regionalization-high concentration over time; (4) The trade flow of PTN is unbalanced, and few countries show outstanding capabilities but a single function. These findings would help trade policymakers manage the supply of strategic raw materials more effectively.
