In recent years, the vehicular ad hoc network (VANET) has received great attention, as it is involved in the design of the intelligent transportation system (ITS). The VANET network includes message flows from vehicle to infrastructure (V2I) and vehicle to vehicle (V2V) where the network is propped by wireless communication technology, such as IEEE 1609 WAVE and IEEE 802.11P. The VANET network implementation faces challenges, and one of these challenges is the design of routing protocols that transfer reliable and efficient packets from vehicle to vehicle. In VANET, steering is a challenging task in the highway and urban environment. Therefore, this paper presents an assessment of ad hoc on-demand distance vector protocol (AODV) performance in the highway and urban environment and to study the effect of vehicle density on protocol performance. The AODV protocol was simulated by MATLAB. In this study, the performance of AODV protocol was evaluated through four measures, namely, packet delivery ratio (PDR), overhead, end-to-end (E2E) delay, and dropped packets. The study in our paper showed that the best performance of the AODV protocol is in an environment where vehicle speed and vehicle density are low.

MANET (Mobile ad hoc networks) are famous in research due to their ad hoc nature and effectiveness during calamities across continents when no framework support is free. Wireless network interfaces have a limited transmission range; nodes may require multiple network hops to trade information across the organization. Each versatile node functions like a switch in such an organization, sending details to the other portable connected nodes. The nodes should not interrupt communication and associate themselves with the correct information transfer. Another significant issue was the development of expandable route discoveries capable of assessing rapid topography variations and numerous network detachments caused by high vehicle quality. This research article describes extensive technological changes, including the components and flaws of current progressive routing algorithms. Routing protocols designed for wired networks, such as the distance vector or connection state conventions, are inadequate for this application because they assume fixed geography and high overheads. This research article includes the MANET-supported routing protocols and their performance analysis across various performance parameters such as packet delivery ratio, average throughput, residual energy, and delay.

Popularity of Mobile ad hoc network in research is due to their ad hoc nature and effectiveness at the time of disaster management when no infrastructure support is available. Due to the limited transmission range of wireless network interfaces, multiple network hops may be needed for nodes to exchange data across the network. In such a network, each mobile node operates as a router, forwarding packets for other mobile nodes in the network that may not be within the direct reach. Routing protocols developed for wired networks such as the distance vector or link state protocols are inadequate here as they not only assume mostly fixed topology but also have high overheads. This has lead to several routing algorithms specifically targeted for ad hoc networks. In this paper, we include the MANET supported routing protocols and their performance analysis over different performance parameters such as packet delivery ratio, delay, throughput, control overhead and energy etc. INTRODUCTIONWireless network is one of the types of data communication network that utilizes wireless connections for connecting devices for exchanging information [1,2]. Radio networks and Wi-Fi local networks are two of the examples of wireless networks. There exists two main classification of wireless networks; infrastructure and infrastructure less wireless networks. In the former, the data communications are created and maintained through access points or routers. An example of this type of network is cellular networks. The latter type is basically known as Ad hoc networks. In such a network where stations are capable of created by themselves and exchanging information between them in a multi-hop style without the fixed infrastructure. Such an infrastructure less property of the network can be easily adapt in a given location.The highly dynamic nature of a mobile ad hoc network results in frequent and unpredictable changes of network topology, adding difficulty and complexity to routing among the mobile nodes. The challenges and complexities, coupled with the critical importance of routing protocol in establishing communications among mobile nodes, make routing area the most active research area within the MANET domain [3]. PROPOSED MODELMANET has routable networking environment to process the exchange of information or packet from one node to other node. Different protocols are simulated for measuring the packet drop rate, the overhead introduced by the routing protocol, end-to-end delay of packet, network throughput, 
