Immunoliposome-based fluorometric patulin assay by using immunomagnetic nanoparticles

Abstract: A fluorometric immunoassay is described for the determination of patulin, a highly toxic fungal metabolite. A rabbit anti-patulin-bovine serum albumin (BSA) IgG conjugate was prepared and used to compose immunoliposomes and immunomagnetic nanoparticles. The immunomagnetic nanoparticles are then added to the sample to form the patulin-antibody composites which can be magnetically separated. The immunoliposomes are then added to form a sandwich. After magnetic separation of the composites and adding n-octyl-β-D-… Show more

“…AT-liposomes primarily utilize specific interactions between ligands/receptors, antigens/antibodies, or molecules/receptors to deliver drugs to target sites. Among these AT-liposomes, those that are modified with monoclonal antibodies or fragments are also referred to as immunoliposomes . Compared with the features of passive-targeting liposomes, AT-liposomes have some additional special properties .…”

“…Among these AT-liposomes, those that are modified with monoclonal antibodies or fragments are also referred to as immunoliposomes. 55 Compared with the features of passivetargeting liposomes, AT-liposomes have some additional special properties. 32 For instance, the targeting of AT-liposomes is mainly determined by vascular-system permeability, tumor penetration, antigen density, ligand affinity, and binding-site barriers.…”
