Immunofluorescence-microscopy in measles

Abstract: Abstract. In 79 children who contracted measles the attempt was made to find the virus in epithelium cells of a buccal smear at different stages of the disease by the help of immunofluorescence. In 42 children (52O/o) this was successful. The test was always positive during the prodromal phase, frequently positive during the first and second day of the rash, but from the fifth day on no virus could be detected any more.
