Monoclonal antibodies to glycolipids of the isoglobo‐series detect tumor‐associated antigens in rats

“…Various glycolipid species characterized by sequences and thus belonging to the isoglobo-series are selectively enriched in rat tumor tissues. An antiserum raised against a particulate fraction of a rat lymphosarcoma (Rapport and Graf, 1955) predominantly contains antibodies to isoglobotetraosylceramide, iGb, (GalNAcPI-3 Galal-3Galpl-4Glc~l-Cer; Rapport et al, 1967). This glycolipid is also the dominating ceramide tetrasaccharide in the non-epithelial compartment of the small and large bowel (Breimer et al, 1982;Hansson et al, 1984) and in the kidney of the rat but not of other species (Siddiqui et al, 1972).…”
