Immune-enhancing effects of polysaccharides MLN-1 from by-product of Mai-luo-ning in vivo and in vitro

Abstract: In this study, a typical Chinese medicine injection (Mai-luo-ning, MLN) was chosen to study the transformation possibility of its byproducts (polysaccharides). What's more, the basic properties of polysaccharides were also detected and its immunoprotect and anti-inflammatory activity were both proved in vivo and in vitro. The experiment determined that MLN-1 significantly increased the level of anti-inflammatory-related factors and the number of lymphocytes. Acute oral toxicity study established that MLN-1 has… Show more

“…Nowadays, diverse physiological activities of polysaccharide have been reported. Polysaccharides are usually extracted from plants, and many plant-derived polysaccharides have non-or less toxicity and few side effects (Nie et al, 2019). For these reasons, the ability of polysaccharide as functional food is being reevaluated.…”

“…It is involved in mediating cellular material transport, and as the sign of the gut mechanical barrier and epithelial integrity, it also plays a role in the process of cell proliferation, tumour cell metastasis and gene transcription (Liu et al, 2017;Stevenson et al, 1986). Due to the large molecular weight, FVP cannot be absorbed by mouse intestinal epithelium, but it can interact with mouse spleen cells to initiate the mucosal immune system and maintain the integrity of intestinal mucosal barrier (Nie et al, 2019). The immune regulation of FVP in our result was similar to those reported for other mushroom polysaccharides (Ike et al, 2012;Wang et al, 2014).…”

“…Emphasizing recent works relating to lignin, wherein nanocomposite films based on cellulose, lignin, and polylactic acid have been reported to have antioxidant and antimicrobial properties, arising out of the phenolic groups in lignin [17]. In such composite systems, through detailed investigations, the advantages of nanocomposites have been established.…”
