Immobilization of Lipozyme TL 100L for methyl esterification of soybean oil deodorizer distillate

Abstract: An immobilization method for binding cross-linked enzyme aggregates of Lipozyme TL 100L on macroporous resin NKA (CLEA-TLL@NKA) was developed in this study. The esterification activity of CLEA-TLL@NKA reached 6.4 U/mg. The surface structure of immobilized lipase was characterized by scanning electron microscopy. Methyl esterification reaction of soybean oil deodorizer distillate (SODD) was catalyzed by CLEA-TLL@NKA, which the conversion rate reached 98% and its activity retained over 90% after 20 batches of re… Show more

“… 20 It was also reported that the methyl esterification reaction of SODD was catalyzed by immobilized Lipozyme TL 100 L in t -butanol, by which the yield of biodiesel reached 98%. 21 Meantime, the recovery of α-tocopherol and β-sitosterol from sunflower oil deodorizer distillate by solid-phase extraction was reported. 22 Also, supercritical CO 2 extraction and crystallization processes were applied for the isolation of phytosterols from saponified rapeseed oil deodorizer distillate.…”

“…However, a high budget is required for such preparations is actual hurdle in their utilization in large scale commodities production, for example, biodiesel synthesis. Hence, the focus of many researchers is on making it more economical and feasible for biodiesel synthesis [140,141]. Their use for biodiesel synthesis have solved many problems such as no soap formation even with low graded feedstock (waste cooking oil) with highly pure biodiesel, an antagonistic behavior to those of alkaline catalysts.…”
