I 1960 ble håndarbeid, sløyd og tegning slått sammen til faget forming i Norge. Hovedmålet for faget var å kultivere skapende krefter og estetisk følsomhet. Mens forming har blitt beskrevet som et individfrigjøringsprosjekt, er dagens kunst- og håndverksfag mer orientert mot samfunn og framtid, inkludert bærekraft. Denne artikkelen bygger på konseptet ansvarlig kreativitet, der elevenes kreative arbeider blant annet kobles til etiske og samfunnsrelevante tematikker. Artikkelen søker svar på forskningsspørsmålet: I hvilken grad svarer tekstilaktivitet i forming fra 1960 til konseptet ansvarlig kreativitet, og hvordan kommer dette eventuelt til uttrykk? Med assemblage som metodisk tilnærming analyserer artikkelen forsøksplanen fra 1960 med særlig vekt på tekstilaktivitet. Analysen identifiserer nøkkelbegreper i tekstmaterialet, etablerer lenker og drøfter relasjoner mellom disse. Gjennom fleksible, visuelle formasjoner fremtrer ulike sider ved faget. Forsøksplanen fra 1960 bruker ikke spesifikt begrepet kreativitet, men rommer et spenn mellom skapende krefter og virkelighetsnære oppdrag. Tekstilaktivitet anno 1960 vektlegger det nære for å kunne strekke seg inn i framtiden. Der forming var rettet mot eget liv og egne framtidsscenarier, er det globale perspektiver og scenarier som i dag aktualiseres gjennom ansvarlig kreativitet. Analysen løfter frem det brede spekteret som kan ligge til virkelighetsnære oppdrag, også med relevans for undervisning i dag. Artikkelen argumenterer for at historisk materiale kan gi perspektiver som aktualiserer skolefagene slöjd og kunst og håndverk i møte med bærekraftstematikk. E-textiles: An interdisciplinary approach

This article aims to shed light on e-textiles as a fusion of different skills. The empirical starting point is a workshop on e-textiles offered to a group of teachers attending a continuing education course in art and design. The study adopts self-ethnography. Using anonymous reflection notes from the workshop, the article discusses e-textiles as an arena to enhance problem solving through practical explorational work. This involves interdisciplinarity, crafting skills and computational thinking. Focusing on two categories, namely I) material knowledge and sustainability and II) electronics knowledge and interdisciplinarity, this study shows that time is an important factor when exploring e-textiles in an educational context. In e-textiles, crafting, circuitry, programming and sustainable thinking can be combined in an interdisciplinary and productive mash-up encouraging problem solving.

This article discusses the case study Case Keramikk, examining students' use of experiential learning from a craft-based design practice in life cycle thinking on their products. Data were constructed through semi-structured group interviews with students of a Norwegian lower secondary school and thematic analysis based on the principles and practices of design for sustainability (DfS). The interview questions engaged the students to assess their practice and products and to estimate environmental considerations. The students used experiential learning that correspond with the DfS practices of eco-efficiency, eco-effectiveness and product durability in the production phase, as well as the distinctive characteristics of materials, products and production decisive for practice of these in the material extraction and use and disposal phases. These reflections enhance students' development of design literacy for sustainability and strengthen their democratic participation in research for development of education in craft-based design for sustainability.
