“…Several previous studies tested whether different insect species (mostly within the same genus or trophic niche) associate with different microbial communities. Differences between insect species have been found in aphids (Zepeda-Paulo et al, 2018;Fakhour et al, 2018;McLean et al, 2019;Gallo-Franco et al, 2019), mealybugs (Lin et al, 2019), reduviids (Rodríguez-Ruano et al, 2018), fruit flies (Ventura et al, 2018;Yong et al, 2017), beetles (Hulcr et al, 2012;Kolasa et al, 2019), silkworms (Chen et al, 2018), lepidopera (van Schooten et al, 2018;Liu et al, 2020), mosquitoes (Mancini et al, 2018), bees and wasps (Skrodenytė-Arbačiauskienė et al, 2019;Suenami et al, 2019). Conversely, other studies did not report differences when comparing different insect species (Berasategui et al, 2016;Ramalho et al, 2017;Meng et al, 2019a).…”

“…The microbiota changes might cause by the living environment or pathogen infections (Kaltenpoth & Engl, 2014). Indeed, the significant decreased in microbiota richness has been reported from the mosquitos infected with entomopathogenic fungus, Beauveria bassiana, and also found in two hymenoptera insects, Megachile centuncularis and Ancistrocerus antelope, which have different disparate trophic specialization (Skrodenytė-Arbačiauskienė et al, 2019;Wei et al, 2017). In the current case, there is no obvious mycosis symptom was found in the P. lanyuhensis; therefore, the fungal infection and caused the abnormal physiological circumstance of P. lanyuhensis could be temporally excluded.…”

“…Around this decade, the 16S metagenomic sequencing has been widely applied on insects for better understanding on the microbiota diversity in their intestines (Lim & Ab Majid, 2020; Sevim et al, 2010; Shelomi et al, 2013; Skrodenytė‐Arbačiauskienė et al, 2019; Villegas & Pimenta, 2014). The microbiota of several insect species have been described to unravel the bacterial communities of the intestinal tract in insects, including Dipteran ( Zeugodacus cucurbitae, Bactrocera dorsalis, Anopheles stephensi , and Aedes albopictus etc.…”
