“…Patients with acute type ATL were intensively treated, whereas chronic type ATL patients were observed without chemotherapy before progression to acute type ATL. Three cell lines analyzed in our study were determined to originate from an ATL cell by the rearrangement profiles of the T-cell receptor ␤-chain gene and the integration sites of the HTLV-I proviral DNA identical to the primary ATL cell as described (Yamada et al, 1991).
