The powerful advantages of programmable logic controller (PLC) dominate the process industries. Scan time of the PLC increases with the number of inputs, rungs added in ladder diagram (LD). Researchers have identified and proved that field programmable gate array (FPGA) is more suitable than PLC for high speed applications. PLC executes the instructions represented through LD. FPGA does not support LD. PLC programmers are not familiar with FPGA programming. This work has developed application software to generate equivalent VerilogHDL code for LD using LabVIEW. Novelty in this work is that each rung is defined using an "assign" statement to ensure concurrent execution of all the rungs. A data acquisition system was created to monitor the digital signals handled by the FPGA. The software was verified with a case study of substances mixing and traffic light control system.

Se documenta la implementación de la rutina de programación de una máquina para tampografía Comec-1998 usada para la impresión de piezas de plástico. El ciclo de trabajo comprende tres rutinas: batido de tinta, operación de ciclo sencillo y operación de ciclo continuo; programadas con tres cilindros, cuatro finales de carrera y dos temporizadores. Después de identificar los elementos para el ciclo de trabajo, se establecen las condiciones para generar los estados. Las transiciones en la red de Petri sirven para ir de un lugar a otro, usando la Automatización de las Redes de Petri y los conceptos de la Lógica de Pase de Tokens. Un PLC Siemens S7-200 se programó en programa KOP Ladder, dada la simplicidad y facilidad al pasar de la red de Petri al diagrama de lógica cableada.

This article discusses the problem of usability of the USB 2.0 protocol in the area of real-time control of a mobile robot. Optimization methods of data transfer handling were proposed. The impact of the optimization results on the entire system's performance was examined in practice. As a test-bed, a hybrid system composed of two devices communicating by direct USB connection was implemented. The first of the mentioned devices was a 32-bit SoC micro-system serving as a direct control unit, and the second one was an off-the-shelf PDA providing supervisory control and logging. Due to this design, the system meets regimes of the real-time constraints and maintains continuity of a data stream at a large bandwidth. The real-time performances of subsystems and the entire system were experimentally examined depending on various operating conditions. Thanks to the performed experiments, the dependency of real-time limits on operational parameters has been determined.
