Identifying the causal agent of necrotizing hepatopancreatitis in shrimp: Multilocus sequence analysis approach

Abstract: The causal agent of the necrotizing hepatopancreatitis (NHP) disease in penaeid shrimp and other crustaceans was studied by sequencing its genome and locating particular biomarker genes that could contribute to a better taxonomic classification. Hepatopancreas of shrimp with clear signs of NHP was used as infective inoculum. The disease was reproduced and the causal agent was isolated by Percoll gradient. Genomic DNA was extracted, purified, submitted to high throughput sequencing and de novo assembled. Therea… Show more

“…Since the number of images we have collected weekly is not that much, the proposed manual pre-processing works acceptably. At the time of conducting this paper, the authors receive images of 6 most asked shrimp diseases such as YHV [35], black gill [36], black spot [37], WSSV [38], infectious myonecrosis virus (IMNV) [39], and necrotizing hepatopancreatitis bacterium (NHB) [40]. We also add healthy shrimps as the seventh class.…”

“…Los análisis se realizaron usando la secuencia ensamblada de novo del genoma de la cepa de Candidatus Hepatobacter penaei, la cual fue previamente aislada por el grupo de trabajo en el Laboratorio de Biología Experimental, de CIAD, A.C, utilizando gradiente de percoll (Leyva et al, 2018).…”
