Identifying critical success factors in EDA industry using DEMATEL method

Abstract: Electronic design automation (EDA) is a category of software tools for designing electronic systems such as printed circuit boards and integrated circuits. However, the EDA industry has been locked into virtually flat growth for the past several years. Time-to-market pressures and design complexity are critical challenges that EDA industry face today. With this background, this paper attempts to identify and analyze the Critical Success Factors (CSFs) in EDA industry. This research proposes the decision making… Show more

“…Thus far, a lack of research persists on the goal of integrating the interdependencies to improve information system performance. To identify the interrelationships among indicators of information systems, the DEMATEL approach is used to construct a network structure map with interdependent relationships [32][33][34][35]. A hybrid MCDM model that combines DEMATEL and the ANP methods can show the cause-and-effect relationships and also obtain the influence factors in systems.…”

“…It is very common to employ the DEMATEL approach to evaluate criteria in the last decades. The DEMATEL approach has been used in various problems such as business process management evaluation 11 , logistics 12 , human resource selection 13 , vehicle fleet maintenance management 14 , facility layout problem 15 , supplier selection 16 , electronic design automation 17 , school selection 18 . The prior works use the DEMATEL method for many applications but this paper is the first application in the lean management field.…”

“…Identifying CSFs is therefore vital for the efficient use of resources in achieving the desired results in an organization. However, CSFs are complex in nature and necessitate the consideration of a high number of parameters in order for the full picture to emerge [18].…”

“…Wu [37] uses fuzzy DEMATEL method to segment the critical factors for successful knowledge management implementations. Sun [18] proposes DEMA-TEL as the main analytical tool to handle the inner dependences within a set of criteria used in Porter's Diamond model and to find the CSFs for the electronic design automation industry. The author concludes that the critical local demand condition and government are the causal competitive advantage factors which could play a significant role in shaping this industry.…”
