Spirulina powder is used as a raw material by many traditional medicine industries in Indonesia. Spirulina powder produced in capsule preparations generally has indications for maintaining the immune system. Risk control through quality risk management has been required by the BPOM of the Republic of Indonesia as a consumer security guarantee. The method used to control risk is FMEA combined with fishbone analysis. This research produces several potential risks in the process stages until Spirulina powder is finished. Processes that potentially pose a risk and need to be controlled include receiving raw materials, storing raw materials, mixing, filling, and finishing good storage. The recommended controls to reduce risk are environmental control, machine, equipment, in-process control, and verification of the raw materials' correctness

Nowadays, demand for processed food items is escalating towards the record consumption volume, which resulted in the surging of the Food Supply Chain (FSCs) network. But, the flow of the commodities through the various channels of the FSC is hampered by the various inefficiencies, which persist due to a lack of monitoring. This results in the widening of the gap between the supply and demand patterns allied with it. To tackle the same, and cater to the upwelling shares of the consumer demand, the dynamics of the Food Supply Chain Performance System (FSCPS) need to be tuned with the avenues of Industry 4.0 practices. Presented work clusters the various attributes of the inefficiencies, which hampers the processed FSCs dynamics and maintenance-related activities, elaborated by their sub-attributes based upon their events of occurrences. A model comprising the various attributes and sub-attributes of inefficiencies constrained outside the organizational boundaries of a firm’s FSC is rendered in this study. For effective handling of the mutual interdependencies persisting between the attributes, the methodology of the Graph Theory and Matrix Approach (GTMA) is exercised for the analysis of the developed model. Outcomes of the presented work felicitate the managers of industries, its allied corporates and numerous stakeholders of the FSC to ground a robust decisional framework, governing policies and managing the process permutations.

Risk analysis is employed across various domains, including the increasingly vital food supply chain, particularly highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic. This study focuses on applying decomposed fuzzy sets (DFS), a novel extension of intuitionistic fuzzy sets, within the context of the food cold chain. The objective is to develop “Decomposed Fuzzy Set-Based FMEA (DF FMEA)” by extending the well-known failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) method to DFS, to assess risks in the food cold chain. The functional and dysfunctional questions related to the severity, occurrence, and detectability of the identified risks; they were addressed to three experts working on the food cold chain. The purpose is to prevent an inconsistent assignment considering the uncertainty and indecision of decision makers. Due to the implementation of the DF FMEA, the identified risks were prioritized as follows: “Financial Risks” held the highest priority, followed by “Delivery Risks”, “Technological Ability Risks”, “Environmental Risks”, “Quality Risks”, and “Social Risks” with the lowest priority. The study’s practical impact lies in the innovative risk assessment method. By considering decision makers’ preferences and uncertainties, the DF FMEA approach enhances informed decision making. This contributes to a robust framework for addressing risks in the food cold chain, aiding practitioners in more effective risk management.
