Valuation of inter-boundary inefficiencies accounting IoT based monitoring system in processed food supply chain

Abstract: Nowadays, demand for processed food items is escalating towards the record consumption volume, which resulted in the surging of the Food Supply Chain (FSCs) network. But, the flow of the commodities through the various channels of the FSC is hampered by the various inefficiencies, which persist due to a lack of monitoring. This results in the widening of the gap between the supply and demand patterns allied with it. To tackle the same, and cater to the upwelling shares of the consumer demand, the dynamics of t… Show more

“…The gathered data are checked for reliability and robustness by evaluating the Cronbach alpha coefficient. Clustered data spikes the value of 0.832, which infers that the data are robust and reliable enough for further analysis (Sharma et al ., 2023a, 2023b). Highlights of the clustered data are showcased in Tables S1 and S2 and Figure S2.…”

“…It can be understood from the fact that approximately 40 percent of the food items get wasted annually due to various uncertainties prevailing in the FSC network (Gardas et al. 2018), and this count touches two‐thirds of total production in the context of global scenarios (Sharma et al ., 2023a, 2023b). Hence, integrating digital technologies within the FSC practices can curtail the risks and facilitate risk mitigation.…”

“…In India, the majority of the food processing industries are small and medium-sized, and they are not well-versed in sustainable practices [ 9 ]. As a result, there is a need to bridge the gap between existing FSC practices and long-term goals [ 10 ].…”
