Identification of Ramularia Leaf Blight Cotton Disease Infection Levels by Multispectral, Multiscale UAV Imagery

Abstract: The reduction of the production cost and negative environmental impacts by pesticide application to control cotton diseases depends on the infection patterns spatialized in the farm scale. Here, we evaluate the potential of three-band multispectral imagery from a multi-rotor unmanned airborne vehicle (UAV) platform for the detection of ramularia leaf blight from different flight heights in an experimental field. Increasing infection levels indicate the progressive degradation of the spectral vegetation signal,… Show more

“…Similarly, target spot and powdery mildew in soybean have been identified using a popular quadcopter, Phantom-3 (Shenzhen DJI Sciences and Technologies Ltd., Shenzhen, China) [26]. Xavier and colleagues (2019) used a multirotor UAV to identify Rumaria leaf blight disease in cotton [44]. A hexacopter, DJI Matrice 600 pro (Shenzhen DJI Sciences and Technologies Ltd., Shenzhen, China), was used to detect target spot and bacterial spot in tomato leaves [45].…”

“…Mesmo a presença de sobras, em casos em que a altura de voo é relativamente baixa, e a resolução espacial das imagens permite resolver pixels pertencentes a esta classe espectral, não justificaria a existência de uma frequência tão grande (~10 5 pixels) de valores nulos. Esse efeito indesejável pode ser visto no histograma da imagem, mostrado na figura 2, e já foi reportado por outros autores (Huang et al, 2010;Xavier et al, 2019).…”
