Identification of Mechanical Behavior Law Parameters for Polyphenylene Sulphide Composites Reinforced by Glass/Carbon Fibers, Graphite and Polytetrafluoroethylene

Abstract: Mechanical behaviour law for thermoplastic polymers was established on the basis of phenomenological models. This work is intended to examine whether a constitutive equation used for thermoplastic polymers could be applied in case of their composites. G’Sell-Jonas model gave good results when used for the prediction of stress-strain characteristics at high strain rate, for semi-crystalline polymers subjected to mechanical tests. Data obtained through compressive test of polyphenylene sulphide (PPS) composites … Show more

“…These results can be summered and discussed as following: 1-The values of tensile strength and modules of elasticity improved with the increasing of volume fraction of graphite particles as shown in figure (1,2,3). This is due to the following reasons: a-The Interconnection improvement between the base polymeric-material with the reinforcement fillers.…”

“…Several of materials are being used which are ranged from low performance glass fiber/polyester, used in small boats and domestic productions, to high performance carbon fiber epoxy, used in military aerospace [1] . Generally, certain polymers featured good mechanical characteristics, which could be enhanced by mixing them with different types of materials [3] . Composite can be produced when two or more materials are joined together for showing a combination of properties that can't be achieved.…”

“…It would be advisable to conduct a research into abrasive resistance under the modes of dry friction. To ensure good strength and specific weight characteristics, [40] applied composite sandwich panels, which is relevant for rocket science and aircraft engineering. These materials are light and can withstand significant axial loads.…”

“…The glass beads have a dispersion range of 0.5 ÷ 35 μm, the most numerous being those in the range of 2 ÷ 5 μm. Their shape offers the advantage of bearing load without bead fragmentation, contrary to other polymeric composites, especially with glass fibers (Besnea et al , 2015).…”
