This study aims to identify the leading sectors in 2010-2019 and future economic development strategies in order to increase the economic competitiveness of Bandung City, Indonesia. The method used is a combined analysis of static and dynamic Location Quotient (LQ), Shift-Share, Growth Ratio Model (MRP), Overlay and Klassen Typology. The results showed that 8 (eight) sectors are classified into advanced and rapidly growing sectors: construction; wholesales, retail, car and motor repair; transportation and warehousing; accommodation and food and beverage; information and communication; financial and insurance services; corporate services; health services; and social activities and others. Economic development strategies to improve the economic competitiveness of Bandung can be done in the short, medium, and long term. In the short term, it is maintaining the advanced and rapidly growing sectors and encouraging others in the advanced category sector but are depressed to be advanced and grow rapidly. In the medium term, local government can strive for potentially growing rapid sectors into advanced and growing rapidly sectors; additionally, it can support relatively lagging sectors to become potential or still develop. Furthermore, in the long-term, other lagging sectors are aimed to become advanced and grow rapidly.

The establishment of regional autonomy in Indonesia gives greater authority to each region in managing its own government affairs, including in terms of economic development and development. This study aims to analyze the leading sectors of Sleman regency to determine the direction of regional economic development. This research used quantitative methods. The data used is secondary data, GRDP for the 2010-2021 period in Sleman regency, Yogyakarta Special Region province. In this study, the Location Quotient (LQ) model was used to identify the base and non-base sectors in the Sleman district economy. The assessment of these sectors is based on Gross Regional Domestic Product at constant prices. Klasen typology was used to identify the leading sectors in the regional economy. The results showed that as many as ten sectors in Sleman regency became base sectors during the period 2010-2021. The conclusion from this research is that Sleman regency has ten leading sectors in the regional economy. Therefore, this research can be used as a reference for the Sleman district government to focus on developing these leading sectors to accelerate economic growth

Economic growth remains the sole determining factor that shapes regional development in Sukamara Regency, Kalimantan Tengah, Indonesia. Therefore, in designing and formulating its regional planning, it is imperative that the leading economic sector(s) be specifically studied and prioritized. Using quantitative data and regional analysis, this research aimed to identify the leading sector(s) to formulate recommendations for the regency’s development planning using geographic information systems and three economic growth indicators: location quotient (LQ), multiplier effect (ME), and shift-share (SS). Results indicate that Forestry, Agriculture, and Fisheries is the primary leading sector, followed by Manufacturing, which are both fuelled by the palm oil industry. The prevailing industrial sector causes economic disparities between northern and southern Sukamara. For further regional development, disparities between regions and sustainability issues must be addressed using a nature-based approach and socially inclusive measures by promoting and fostering small and medium enterprises, especially in southern Sukamara. Shifting the economy from extractive sectors (primary) to trade and tourism (secondary and tertiary) is also recommended to ensure the sustainabality of the development.
