“…The hitherto known DRB1 associations found in European populations such as the DRB1*01 allele and anti‐Jk a were confirmed . With regard to anti‐K, the strongest association was with DRB1*13, comparable to the study of Noizat‐Pirenne and colleagues and at variance with Chiaroni and colleagues who found DRB1*11 more strongly associated.…”

“…The lack of difference in C4d deposition and a negative historical anti‐JK antibody screening, associated with histologic differences between JK m and JK mm grafts, suggests either the occurrence of specific anti‐JK cellular mechanisms, as previously evidenced by our group for posttransfusion immunization to Jk a antigens, 44 either the presence of nondetected anti‐JK antibodies, known to fade in vivo and in vitro, or both mechanisms. Probably depending on the level of presensitization (pregnancy, mismatched JK allograft, and/or transfusions), both specific anti‐JK cellular and/or humoral immunologic mechanisms could occur during renal allograft rejection.…”

“…Our group and others recently described a correlation between HLA‐DRB1*01 and anti‐Jk a alloimmunization in the context of blood transfusions 44,45 . In analogy, and as performed for FY system, we checked the allelic frequencies of HLA‐DR molecules in our JK mm population, comparing JK mm grafts with and without interstitial inflammation.…”

“…2 In humans, several genotypes of class II major histocompatibility complex (MHC II) could be implicated in alloimmunization against specific antigens but controversy remains regarding this. 3,4 Little is known about the role of CD4 + T cells in alloimmunization, 5 except for Treg cells. [6][7][8] Recently, we showed that the phenotype of CD4 + T cells from SCD patients differs according to whether M urine models of red blood cell transfusion show that inflammation associated with viruses or methylated DNA promotes red blood cell alloimmunization.…”
