Gresik, an ancient port city in East Java has played a significant role in international trade and has given rise to unique coastal settlements with distinctive cultures due to the interaction between foreigners and the local community. In 2017, Damar Kurung, a Gresik vernacular art, was declared a national intangible cultural heritage for representing the community's collective memory and local knowledge values, crucial in building a national identity. This paper explores the connection between coastal settlements and Javanese vernacular art and analyzes their effect on Damar Kurung.This study utilizes art historiography as a methodology, which combines biographical interpretation approaches and formal analysis. Thus, it develops a comprehensive understanding of Damar Kurung and its artists in the past, present, and future, and their relation to geographical context.The findings reveal that the Gresik coastal settlement has had a significant impact on Damar Kurung's style, themes, methods, and materials. Damar Kurung's paintings reflect maritime traditions ranging from daily activities to myths in fisherman kampong. The coastal settlements and Damar Kurung have a mutual relationship that influences each other.Throughout history, coastal settlements have transformed Damar Kurung into a captivating vernacular art that represents Gresik's cultural identity. The evolution of this settlement from craft to painting demonstrates the society's flexibility to adapt to changing times. As an intangible cultural heritage, Damar Kurung requires conservation efforts to establish an inclusive and appreciative space.

Every district continues to move forward in response to the increasingly diverse community activities in the city’s rapid development. Manggarai is one of the old and complex districts in South Jakarta that holds various historical values and problems. Growing up with its initial face as a commercial area, the development has shifted Manggarai into a transit-oriented area as its new face. Local people complain that movement is limited to arterial roads causing some areas to stagnate and degrade due to the lack of attractors. Therefore, this project seeks to regenerate community expectations regarding the realization of potential and memory through urban acupuncture methods. With this idea, “unraveling spot” is built by dissecting the urban context using the image of the city theory, which describes various issues and potentials that can be raised as targets in answering the value of urban acupuncture itself. The analysis will lead to the design of the used goods business in the wood and iron sector that is still existing and is in demand by the public which later will have programs such as gallery, hangout space, cultural stage, market, and culinary area, as well as green open space. In conclusion, this project aims to strengthen community interaction and participation, which will lead to an even distribution of movement, the emergence of community, equality, and recreational nodes network. Keywords: Community Empowerment; Image of the City; Recreation; Scrap Wooden Metal; Urban Acupuncture Abstrak Berbagai kawasan terus bergerak maju guna merespon semakin beragamnya aktivitas masyarakat dalam pesatnya perkembangan kota. Manggarai menjadi salah satu kawasan tua dan kompleks di Jakarta Selatan yang menyimpan beragam nilai historis dan persoalan. Tumbuh dengan wajah awalnya sebagai kawasan perniagaan namun perkembangan membawanya beralih menjadi kawasan berorientasi transit sebagai wajah barunya. Masyarakat setempat mengeluhkan pergerakan yang sebatas pada jalan-jalan arteri menyebabkan beberapa area stagnan dan berdegradasi karena kurangnya atraktor pada kawasan. Oleh karena itu, proyek ini berusaha menumbuhkan kembali harapan masyarakat mengenai pengangkatan kembali potensi dan memori kawasan melalui metode akupunktur perkotaan. Dengan gagasan ini, “wadah mengurai” dibangun dengan membedah konteks perkotaan menggunakan teori citra kota yang menjabarkan berbagai isu dan potensi yang diangkat sebagai sasaran dalam penerapan akupunktur perkotaan itu sendiri. Analisis tersebut akan berujung pada perancangan bisnis barang bekas di sektor kayu dan besi yang masih memiliki eksistensi dan diminati masyarakat dimana nantinya program seperti galeri, tempat nongkrong, panggung budaya, wadah jual beli, dan area kuliner, serta ruang terbuka hijau. Kesimpulannya, proyek ini bertujuan untuk mempererat interaksi dan partisipasi masyarakat yang akan membawa penyebaran perpindahan yang merata, timbulnya komunitas, kesetaraan, dan jaringan simpul rekreasi yang utuh.

This study is conducted to identify the application of GREENSHIP-based material resources and cycle (MRC) as part of green campus development in Universitas Negeri Malang (UM). The study focuses on the new two integrated classroom buildings in UM, which has nine floors with 44,917 m2 of total floor area. The parameters used in this study covers purchasing policy, waste management policy, the use of non-ODP refrigerant, existing conservation materials, and low environmental impact materials. The results of the study has shown that: (1) the prerequisite criteria for materials purchasing policies were fulfilled based on the use of environmentally friendly material categories in the building procurement process; (2) as for the waste treatment policy, there is the existence of a policy statement letter from the top management for waste processing and product saving campaigns; (3) the use of refrigerant without ODP are declared to be in compliance with the use of refrigerant type R410a with ODP value = 0; (4) since the building construction project use entirely new materials, the GREENSHIP requirement for used materials are not fulfilled; (5) 82.5% of materials for architectural finishing works are environmental-friendly as assessed from the materials specification; (6) regarding waste treatment practices, there is a separate waste processing facility for organic, inorganic and B3 type of waste as required by GREENSHIP.
