“…TSLP also induces the expression of B-cell activating factor by DCs, which promotes class switching by B-cells [ 27 , 28 ]. TSLP and IL-33 are primarily produced by epithelial cells [ 29 , 30 ]. Since CD11c-mediated Ig production by CDN-adjuvanted vaccine is abrogated in Tmem173 −/− mice compared to WT [ 6 ], CD11c + DCs are responsible for the STING-dependent adjuvanticity.…”

“…Thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP), a sensitive marker of epithelial inflammation, is shown to be harmful to the epidermal barrier [ 13 , 14 , 15 , 16 ]. In fact, TSLP is highly expressed in keratinocytes from AD patients, and plays critical roles in the induction and exacerbation of this chronic dermatitis [ 17 ]. TSLP acts in AD pathogenesis through several mechanisms: (1) enhancing CD4+ T-cell polarization into Th2 cells [ 16 , 18 , 19 , 20 , 21 ]; (2) promoting IL-33-independent innate lymphoid cell responses [ 22 ]; and (3) targeting dendritic cells and innate lymphoid cells [ 23 , 24 ].…”

“…Here, we investigated whether dieckol, a phlorotannin from Ecklonia cava (Figure 1a), can suppress TSLP production to reduce Th2 immunity and effectively alleviate AD-like symptoms in an NC/Nga mouse model in vivo. First, we determined whether dieckol affects the production of TSLP in a mouse keratinocyte cell line, KCMH-1, that constitutively produces high amounts of TSLP (Segawa et al, 2014). Dieckol reduced TSLP mRNA and protein levels in KCMH-1 cells (Figure 1b and c).…”
