Identification and quantification of phenolic compounds of Western Siberia Astragalus danicus in different regions

Abstract: The potential of phenolic compounds of medicinal plants including Astragalus danicus L is determined by but not limited to their antioxidant activity. Their anti-inflammatory, antitumor, and other useful properties are known, which allows using these phytochemicals within preventive activities to reduce the risk of many serious diseases. Chromatographic analysis of the Astragalus danicus L. biomaterial from the plant samples collected in three regions of the Kemero… Show more

“…Phenolic compounds play an important role in the adaptation of plants to the environment, and their content is determined by the origin, harvesting time, and cultivation conditions [ 3 , 20 ]. Previous data has shown that the TPC and TFC contents can vary by approximately three times according to the region where the plants are collected [ 21 , 22 ]. In the present study, the major polyphenols in H. acetosella were identified as caffeic acid (CA) and chlorogenic acid (CGA), while gallocatechin (GC) and gallic acid (GAL) were present in relatively small amounts ( Table 2 ).…”

“…A balanced diet and dietary intake of nutrients affect the immune system through gene expression, cell activation and modification of signaling molecules. In addition, various food ingredients are determinants of the gut microbial composition and subsequently form immune responses in the body [ 138 , 139 , 140 ]. A diet combined with medicinal plants with immunomodulatory, antiviral and anti-inflammatory effects can significantly enhance this protection.…”

“…Research confirms that high consumption of fruit and vegetables containing vitamin E, vitamin C and carotenoids, phenolic compounds including flavonoids and phenolic acids reduces the incidence of various dangerous diseases such as cancer and cardiovascular disease [3,4,5]. Therefore, natural plant foods are considered a potential source of natural highly active antioxidants such as phenolic compounds of various plant extracts or products [6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13]. Having similar properties, the so-called Mediterranean diet features tomatoes and tomato products as key components.…”
