“…-Only one original element suitable for typification was found. This sheet in LE bears three plants and three labels in Meyer's hand: One with a morphological description that fully agrees with the protologue, a second with locality and collecting date only and a third one with a drawing corresponding to t. 45 in Ledebour (1829). Later a label "Specimen authenticum" and the printed determination slip "Suaeda altissima (L.) Pall., teste M. M. Iljin" were attached.…”

“…5 (Rix 1980), the name F. minor is accepted as a synonym not for F. meleagroides, but for F. ruthenica. However, by its upper leaves (bracts) verticillate and twisted (with a tendril-like apex) (Lozina-Lozinskaya 1935, Rix 1980), F. ruthenica obviously differs from the iconography of "F. minor" published by Ledebour (1830b), as well as from the "F. minor" specimens collected by the same author from Altai (see herbarium specimens digitized by the GPD 2015). In the meantime, reliable iconography of the species F. meleagroides has been enriched by the contributions of Yanev (1964), Hill (2008Hill ( , 2010, Buko & Maltseva (2012), Ivanova (2015) etc.…”

“…as a synonym for F. meleagroides, according to the principle of priority. However the diagnosis published by Ledebour (1830a) in "Flora Altaica" for his F. minor includes some characters which cannot be recognized at the plant illustrated by the same author in the "Icones plantarum ... " (Ledebour 1830b) and which are specific rather for F. ruthenica Wikst. : "Folia …, apice plerumque incurvo …; duo inferiora nonnunquam subopposita …".…”

“…However, this is the first record of this genus in Taiwan. Although preliminary observations indicate that P. taiwania is morphologically close to P. micrantha (Ledebour 1829, Chen et al 2003), it is clearly different from P. micrantha and can be distinguished by the following characteristics: perennial, stems climbing or pendulous to 80 cm, petioles slender 3–10 mm, leaf sparsely pubescent adaxially, flowers unisexual with male flowers without bracts and female flowers subtended by a bract to one side. A closer comparison of the two taxa is given in Table 1.…”
