tert‐Butyl Acetate as Alkylating Agent

Abstract: The complexes (3), like (2) [I], react as selective hydrogenation catalysts. The complexes (3c) and (3d) have ahydrogenation activity comparable with that of (2), whereas the salt-like compounds (3a) and (3b) exhibit only weak activity. Compound (7) does not catalyze hydrogenation.Bis (cyclopentadienyl) vanadium-tricarbonylcycyclopentadienylchromium (3c)

“…N-benzyl-and amethyl-N-benzylbenzamide were prepared according to Beckmann (12); benzoyl piperidine was obtained using Pasto and Johnson's procedure (13) and purified by column chromatography over alumina. Literature preparations were also available for N-tert-butyl- (14), N-benzyl-(IS), N-p-methoxybenzyl-(IS), and N-p-chlorobenzylacetamide (16). All synthesized compounds had appropriate spectral properties and melting points in agreement with literature values.…”

“…Their new protocol was also efficient for the catalytic preparation of N-tertbutylamides using tert-butyl acetate. 63 Fe(III) catalysis is also effective in the synthesis of unsymmetrical urea derivatives from cyanamides (equation 107), 190 whereas ZnCl 2 -SiO 2 provides an alternative catalytic route to N-tert-butylamides. 191 …”

“…61 Esters of tertalcohols (equation 26) are equivalent to masked carbenium ions under Ritter conditions. 14 Therefore, examples such as triphenylmethyl formate 62 or tert-butyl acetate 63 can be employed in place of the corresponding alcohols or alkenes to obtain the controllable reaction conditions necessary for large-scale preparations. 64 The reactions can be conducted as a flow system by using microfluidic devices to control the various reaction parameters, 65 and the exothermic nature of the reaction can also be mitigated by (1) adding the components in small quantities over time and (2) …”

“…Alkylation of methoxy benzene produces tertiary butylated methoxy benzene, which are used as anti oxidants, dye developers and stabilizers for fats, oils, plastic, etc., [30]. The alkylation of anisole to yield 4-tert-butyl anisole has been carried out in presence of ZrCl 4 [31], trifluroacetic acid [32], and tert-butyl acetate in presence H 2 SO 4 [33] and Yadav et al [34] reported alkylation of anisole over solid acid catalysts with MTBE. In the present study we have studied alkylation of anisole using tert-butanol under vapor phase condition over Al-MCM-41 mesoporous molecular sieves and results have been discussed.…”
